The York Centre of the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEIY) is recruiting a Research Assistant to support interdisciplinary research on sustainable, resilient supply chains linked to the Stockholm Environment Institute’s Trase programme, the UKRI GCRF Trade, Development and Environment (Trade) Hub, and CASCADES project.
Role
You will support the Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) group at SEIY in the preparation, analysis and internal and external dissemination of data (in both quantitative and qualitative forms) and associated research. Your role within the SCP group – which will also involve collaboration with other SEI centres and partners – will be to provide support (in the form of background literature reviews, data collection and processing, engagement with stakeholders, and results preparation) to our work in the Trade Hub (which focuses on the linkages between biodiversity loss and trade), Trase (an online platform, and associated research portfolio, which is increasing the transparency of deforestation-linked supply chains) and CASCADES (a European project looking at climate risk exposure via trade).
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
You will be educated to at least undergraduate level in a relevant subject, have excellent computer literacy, excellent research skills (and particularly data analysis) and communication skills, experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams. Background knowledge linked to sustainable consumption and production (e.g. circular economy, LCA, and/or environmental footprinting) would be an advantage. You must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be able to deliver work to deadlines and of a high quality.

The Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) is an international non-profit research organisation, with a focus on bridging science and policy to tackle environmental and social challenges. The Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) group are currently recruiting for a Project Coordinator to support in the coordination of Research projects and engagement activities with external stakeholders.
Role
As the Project Coordinator you will help support the SCP group in the delivery of its research, ensuring it is collaborative and linked to stakeholder needs. In particular, you will support Work Package 2 of the Trade Hub which is connecting commodity trade to biodiversity impacts, and engagement processes with external stakeholders as part of the Trase programme. The role will require the development of close working relationships with other members of the Trade Hub (including UNEP-WCMC, the project leads) and Trase (particularly colleagues in SEI and Global Canopy)
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
You will have a working knowledge of various Microsoft Office packages, and experience of good project coordination and administration including the minuting and summarising of outcomes, working with financial information, and preparing and presenting data and reports. You will have a high standard of written and communication skills, with an attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records. You will be well organised, and confident to work under pressure and to strict deadlines. You will be happy to work independently as well as within as team.
